Job summary

Nemours is seeking Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants to join our Orlando, Florida team on a full-time and part-time basis. New graduates and adult AAs are welcome as we expand in pediatric care and support the pediatric world.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Anesthesiology Assistant Program (ARC-AA).
  • Current Florida Anesthesiologist Assistant license or eligible licensure.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required or in progress.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients.
  • Administer anesthesia under supervision of an anesthesiologist.
  • Monitor and manage intraoperative patient status with non-invasive and invasive monitoring as needed.
  • Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care and follow-up as appropriate.

What does our job look like?

In collaboration with and under the direction of an Anesthesiologist, our CRNAs administer anesthesia to patients as a qualified member of the anesthesia care team. We work in a collegial work environment with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other APPs. We offer 100% pediatric care and the ability to be a part of diverse cases.

  • Performs an individualized pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient to include review of consultations, history and physical, and relevant diagnostic studies; Selects, obtains, orders, and administers pre-anesthetic medications and fluid; obtains informed consent for anesthesia
  • Selects, applies and insets appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of the patient's physical status throughout the perioperative experience
  • Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering and administering medications, fluids and ventilation support
  • Discharges patients from the post-anesthesia care area and provides post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care as appropriate
  • Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and medications using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques
  • In collaboration with the anesthesiologists, monitors and evaluates quality of patient care and participates in department quality assurance and performance improvement activities
  • Practices within regulatory requirements as defined by Joint Commission, American Society of Anesthesia Position Statements, and ACHA
What you need to get started!
  • Graduate from an accredited Anesthesiology Assistant Program accredited by the Anesthesiology Accreditation Review Council - Anesthesiology Assistant (ARC-AA)
  • Current Florida Anesthesiologist Assistant license
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
