Job Summary

Under the supervision of a licensed professional (such as an LCADC-CCS), the CADC / CADC Internship evaluates, counsels, and case-manages adults with Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders

Responsibilities

• Clinical Assessments: Conduct standardized intake evaluations, including the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), and determine levels of care using ASAM criteria.
• Treatment Planning: Collaborate with clients to create individualized, person-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment plans.
• Counseling: Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
• Case Management: Coordinate care with external entities (e.g., criminal justice systems, probation, housing) and make community referrals.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, frequently using the New Jersey Substance Abuse Monitoring System (NJSAMS).

• Caseload Support: Manage a reduced caseload or support senior staff in daily client monitoring.
• Core Functions Training: Receive ongoing training in screening, crisis intervention, referral, and consultation.
• Record Keeping: Learn and execute proper clinical charting, progress note-taking, and documentation of client histories.

Internship Qualifications

• High School Diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Enrolled in, or recently completed, an approved ADC/CADC educational curriculum.
• Registered with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs as a CADC Intern
