Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer- Hybrid position based in Winston-Salem, NC. You will lead certification efforts across the full product lifecycle, developing strategies and coordinating with UL, FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx frameworks to secure and maintain approvals.

You will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure compliance, prepare technical documentation, and drive testing plans, costing, and audits. A minimum of 1 year in certification or regulatory roles is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Experience preparing detailed certification reports and technical documentation.
• Ability to develop and oversee test plans for certification and verification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for regulatory challenges.
• Continuous improvement mindset for process optimization and engineering quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage certification requirements across product lifecycle.
• Develop and execute certification strategies for the Americas region.
• Plan and lead certification initiatives with project planning and scheduling.
• Coordinate with certification agencies to obtain product approvals.
• Ensure compliance with UL, FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx standards.
• Prepare certification reports, technical documents, and records for audits.
• Provide guidance on regulatory strategies and compliance risks.
• Support engineering teams to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Conduct electrical design reviews and compliance assessments.
• Estimate certification costs and support budgeting for approvals and testing.
• Identify and resolve complex certification challenges and regulatory issues.
• Develop test plans and oversee testing and validation.
• Minimum 1 year hands-on experience in product certification or regulatory roles.
• Experience with UL, FM, CSA standards and certification processes.
• ATEX and IECEx expertise for hazardous locations.
• Proficiency in managing product certification and regulatory compliance activities.
• Experience collaborating with notified bodies, certification agencies, and testing laboratories to obtain and maintain approvals.
