Elevate Aircraft Seating in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a Certification Engineer for a hybrid role. You will develop certification programs to demonstrate regulatory and OEM compliance, coordinating with teams during onboarding and ongoing projects.

The role emphasizes testing, design review, and industry standards. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, strong FAA/regulatory knowledge, and the ability to travel locally for meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline is required.
Experience levels: Level I 0-2 yrs, Level II 2-7 yrs, Level III 7+ yrs; hiring based on size, budget and performance.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Develop certification test plans and reports ensuring compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements.
Communicate with project team members to identify scope of work, schedule, design details, quotes, risks, and other factors impacting certification.
Oversee and assist with test article build and conformity.
Review prototype designs and drawings; identify and communicate necessary changes.
Identify potential certification issues and communicate information to supervisor; analyze problems and derive solutions.
Develop tools to track deliverables, testing, and compliance findings; maintain certification records.
Interface with airlines, OEMs, FAA, and suppliers to ensure timelines.
Act as SME for certification issues in areas like flammability, dynamic/static testing, design compliance, and aircraft installation (level II/III).
Develop internal best practices (level II/III).
Monitor industry issues and communicate to team members.

Hybrid Work Arrangement: This role is designated as hybrid; however, candidates should anticipate working onsite full-time during the initial onboarding and ramp-up period. Following successful integration into the role, a hybrid schedule will be available based on performance, business needs, and team requirements. Regular onsite attendance is required for customer meetings, testing, and key business activities.

JOB SUMMARY

The Certification Engineer is responsible for developing and executing certification programs to demonstrate compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements.

Note: The primary difference between job levels is tied to skill level, complexity of the problem solving, and year of experience. Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions(Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

Develop certification test plans and reports ensuring compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements
Communicate with project team members to identify scope of work, schedule, design details, quotes, risks, and other pertinent factors impacting certification
Oversee and assist as necessary with test article build and conformity
Review prototype designs and drawings; identify and communicate necessary changes
Identify potential certification issues and any adverse impact; communicate any certification related information to supervisor and impacted disciplines. Analyze problems and derive appropriate solutions
Develop tools, as necessary, to track deliverables, testing, compliance findings, to assure on-time completion of certification tasks. Maintain accurate and up-to-date certification records
May interface with airlines, OEMs, FAA, and suppliers to ensure project timeline is achieved
Act as subject matter expert for certification issues in a variety of areas, including flammability, dynamic and static testing, design compliance, and aircraft installation and integration (level II/III)
Develop internal best practices (level II/III)
Monitor latest industry issues and documents; communicate information to applicable team members (level II/III)
Represent company at customer, industry or other required meetings
Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline is required

Experience: Job assignments will be based on experience, job opening and budget availability, and the performance level of the incumbent.

Level l: 0-2 years of engineering experience
Level II: 2-7 years of engineering experience
Level III: 7+ years of experience

Skills:

Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, a sense of urgency and sensitivity to deadlines, and detail oriented
Operational knowledge of all certification test equipment
Demonstrated knowledge of, and the ability to analyze, regulatory requirements and advisory materials
Technical writing ability
Ability to communicate and present both orally and written
Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Detailed knowledge of TSO processes and general FAA regulations (level II/III)
Detailed knowledge of dynamic, static, and flammability testing processes and procedures (level II/III)

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Knowledge of FAA (Part 21 and Part 25) and Boeing requirements
AutoCAD and/or CATIA V5 familiarity

Other:

May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required
Must show proof of ability to work in the United States

Will autonomously work on routine programs / tasks with frequent status updates to supervisor. Will be provided with additional guidance on more complex or non-routine tasks
Level III: Direction is provided in terms of tasks and objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion on how well objectives have been met. Will work autonomously with only occasional status updates with supervisor

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Elevate Aircraft Seating offers competitive wages and benefits to recognize employees for their work. The base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.

Salary Range Transparency: $80,000 - $90,000 annually
