Job Description

The Certification Engineer leads certification activities for the Americas region and plays a key role in engineering design, development, and product sustainment. This position establishes certification strategies, influences stakeholders, ensures compliance with international regulations and standards, and drives continuous improvement of certification processes. The role offers broad exposure to global regulatory frameworks and the opportunity to shape new product development from concept through commercialization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage certification requirements across the entire product lifecycle, from concept through commercialization and sustainment.
  • Develop and execute certification strategies that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements in the Americas region.
  • Plan and lead certification initiatives, supporting project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.
  • Coordinate closely with certification agencies, notified bodies, and testing laboratories to obtain and maintain product approvals.
  • Ensure products comply with applicable international standards and specifications, including UL, FM, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx frameworks.
  • Prepare and maintain certification reports, technical documentation, and compliance records to support audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering and cross-functional teams on certification requirements, regulatory strategies, and compliance risks.
  • Support engineering teams in designing products that meet relevant safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct electrical design reviews and compliance assessments to verify adherence to certification requirements.
  • Estimate certification costs, contribute to budget planning, and support financial decision-making related to approvals and testing.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex certification challenges and regulatory issues, escalating when necessary and proposing solutions.
  • Develop test plans and oversee testing, verification, and validation activities related to regulatory compliance.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in product certification, regulatory compliance, or product compliance roles.
  • Strong experience working with UL, FM, and CSA standards and certification processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise with ATEX and IECEx regulatory frameworks for hazardous locations and international compliance.
  • Proficiency in managing product certification and regulatory compliance activities using structured, process‑driven methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating with notified bodies, certification agencies, and testing laboratories to obtain and maintain approvals.
  • Experience compliance testing, including testing, verification, and validation of products against regulatory standards.
  • Ability to perform electrical design reviews and assess designs for compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
  • Experience supporting new product development and sustaining engineering initiatives from a certification and compliance perspective.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including planning, organizing, and leading certification‑related projects.
  • Proven ability to identify compliance gaps, drive corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of regulatory issues.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory affairs, regulatory compliance, and product certification processes in a highly regulated environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience preparing detailed certification reports, technical documentation, and compliance records.
  • Ability to develop and oversee test plans that support certification, verification, and validation activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for resolving complex certification and regulatory challenges.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience promoting process optimization and engineering quality.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
