Job summary

A California educational institution seeks a Certificated Teacher Resource to support academic programs in grades K-12. Qualifications

  • Preferably have experience working with specialized student populations (English Learners, Homeless, Foster Youth, etc.).
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • TB Clearance
  • Obtain Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance through the DOJ and FBI.

  • Support each individual student’s Pathways Personalized Education Plan (PPEP)
  • Assist and monitor the completion of all Naviance surveys
  • Sign and abide by all educational testing affidavits
  • Communicate with students and parents, related to school events, academic engagement, and progress
  • Assist teachers with testing and supervision
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development throughout the school year
  • Assist in conducting student home visits
  • Support teachers with resource center management related to a safe environment and supportive school culture
  • Support teachers with the development of a monthly resource center calendar
  • Partner with instructional staff to develop a field trip plan aligned to the school’s annual instructional plan
  • Guest Speaker/Pathway Portfolio panel assistance
  • CTR should support the resource center in making connections with local community members to serve as guest speakers and/or Pathway Portfolio panel members
  • CTR should partner with teachers to make connections within the community
  • CTR should help maintain a clean, organized learning environment for students
  • Provide training and support to new CTRs
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and participating in regular and ongoing marketing and community outreach activities and events to ensure students and parents are aware of the school as a free public option

Overview

BASIC FUNCTION/DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direct supervision of a general education teacher, the successful candidate will assist in the academic program in grades K-5 and/or 6-12 and support operations of the resource center. Certificated Teacher Resource (CTRs) are a key part of each resource center’s instructional team. The CTR position is hourly and full-time, 40 hours per week. CTRs are role models for our students, and are expected to look, act, and speak, as representatives of the school at all times.

Representative duties
  • Grade student work within 72 hours of receipt
  • Provide constructive feedback to students
  • Follow grading rigor reference guide
  • Provide tutoring sessions to small group of students in Math, ELA, Social Science, Physical & Life Sciences, Pathways Exhibition, CTE & General Electives and VAPA & World Languages
  • Support each individual student’s Pathways Personalized Education Plan (PPEP)

Working conditions

ENVIRONMENT: Indoor, office setting; exposure to computer screens.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Hearing and speaking to exchange information with students, staff, and parents; seeing to read, proofread, perform clerical tasks and periodic work on a computer screen; intermittent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; driving a vehicle to attend visits at resource centers and staff meetings.

Selection process

Qualified applicants will first complete a brief work-styles/behavioral survey and a math assessment. Candidates who successfully complete this initial phase will be invited to a panel interview with School Administrators. Candidates recommended from the first interview will advance to a final interview with the Deputy Superintendent of School Services and Founding Director, and the Superintendent of School Services and Founder.

Compensation and benefits

Employees are eligible for coverage beginning the first day of the month following sixty (60) days of employment.
