Job summary

Jobot seeks a local IT Training Specialist in Los Angeles to deliver Cerner Ambulatory and Inpatient training across onsite and remote settings. The role includes end-user training, new employee onboarding, and the development of training materials for multiple formats.

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years of healthcare IT training experience, with proficiency in Office apps and experience with ServiceNow, Kronos, and Lawson a plus. Local candidates only.

Qualifications

  • Competency in Cerner Ambulatory and Inpatient applications.
  • Experience with end-user training and instructional design is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Cerner Ambulatory and Inpatient training to end users.
  • Develop, update, and organize training materials and guides.
  • Schedule classes and coordinate with instructors and classrooms.
  • Create self-paced learning paths using video and eLearning tools.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs accordingly.
  • Assist with small project management initiatives and issue remediation.
  • Stay current with healthcare IT workflows and product updates.

Summary:

An IT Training Specialist is needed to serve in the capacity of an educator in which s/he will perform a range of educational support roles for newly implemented technology and applications including end user training, new employee training, post implementation optimization and stabilization training, remediation training and instructional design and development of a collection of educational settings such as computer lab learning, eLearning, webinars, classroom, large conference rooms, etc. The Training Specialist will also be responsible for small project management initiatives and investigating intermittent technical problems.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.

Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of proven IT virtual and in-person training experience, in a healthcare setting.
  • Competency in both Ambulatory and Inpatient Cerner clinical bundle of applications
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, and Visio
  • Experience training business applications such as ServiceNow, Kronos, Lawson, etc., is a plus
  • Ability to understand business and clinical application workflows
  • Experience writing eLearning scripts is a plus
  • Hands-on experience developing a range of training materials, including but not limited to participant guides, job aids, quick reference guides, and short video tutorials
  • Experience utilizing SnagIt
  • Experience working in a large and dynamic project environment preferred
  • Proven track record of excellence and commitment as a professional

Position is Hybrid - approximately 70% onsite, 30% remote

Accountabilities
  • Present information, using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role playing, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.
  • Schedule classes based on the availability of classrooms, equipment, and instructors.
  • Create “self-paced” learning avenues using video, audio, and other computer-based learning tools.
  • Organize and develop, or obtain, training procedure manuals and guides, and course materials such as handouts and visual materials.
  • Develop specific classroom-style training programs for new applications and hardware.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness.
  • Evaluate training materials prepared by departmental instructors, such as outlines, text, and handouts.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, and/or consultation with managers, or end-users.
  • Design, plan, organize, and direct orientation and training for employees on Information Technology applications.
  • Keep up with technology developments in the area of expertise by reading current journals, books, and magazine articles.
