Job summary

Utility Global is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Ceramic Technology in Englewood, Colorado. You will lead the ceramic materials team, set priorities, and guide strategy from lab development to manufacturing transfer for high-temperature reactor components.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years leading ceramic programs, strong processing expertise, and a track record of translating research into scalable production. Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• BS required in a related field; 8+ years leading technical teams in an industrial setting.
• Proven track record in ceramic materials development, processing, and scale-up.
• Experience managing and coaching engineers and scientists across multidisciplinary teams.
• Hands-on familiarity with ceramic processing methods (extrusion, slip casting, spray coating, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of characterization techniques (SEM, XRD, BET, porosimetry, rheology, dilatometry).
• Experience applying DOE and statistical methods to guide decisions and improve processes.
• Ability to communicate complex technical strategy to leadership and teams.
• Ability to lead in fast-paced, cross-functional R&D environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a ceramic technology team focused on high-temperature reactor components.
• Set priorities, allocate resources, and translate company objectives into a ceramic tech roadmap.
• Define experimental strategy to improve performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Oversee bench-scale to pilot-scale translation of ceramic development into manufacturing readiness.
• Establish standards for testing, data analysis, and design reviews.
• Partner with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and external partners for material evaluation.
• Drive technology transfer to internal and third-party manufacturers.
