Job summary

AV is seeking an Inorganic Powder Production Technician as part of the Materials and Processing Team at the Air Force Research Laboratory located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This position involves scaled synthesis of ceramic powder precursor material and following established SOPs in a laboratory and manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Associate degree with at least two years of relevant laboratory or production experience; or bachelor's science in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to follow written standard operating procedures and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to provide technical written reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory methods, analytical/scientific methods, or related operational processes.
  • Ability to perform assigned responsibilities and manage workload with a moderate degree of supervision.
  • Strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • General laboratory support/housekeeping.
  • Perform laboratory tasks as assigned.
  • Follow employee health and safety requirements.
  • Quality control of scaled synthesized materials.
  • Perform assigned laboratory and production activities with a moderate degree of supervision and manage assigned workload to meet established schedules and quality requirements.
  • Recognize and resolve typical issues encountered during laboratory and production activities using established procedures and scientific methods, escalating non-routine issues as appropriate.
  • Support material scientists in the development and standardization of new scaled processes by executing established procedures, documenting results, and providing technical feedback.
  • Document and communicate technical information, observations, and quality-control results to material scientists and other team members.
