Job summary

Doncasters in Oxford, Alabama is seeking a Ceramic Core Engineer to lead non-metallic materials and manufacturing processes for aerospace investment castings. This on-site role connects advanced materials science with high-volume production, developing a green-field core operation from body material development to finishing.

The engineer will optimize ceramic core yields, ensure process control, and resolve dimensional or structural defects to keep flows across downstream wax and casting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in materials (preferably ceramics) processing, injection molding, or an investment casting foundry.
• Proficiency in data analysis software like Minitab or Excel for SPC.
• Familiarity with laboratory testing methods & protocols.
• Familiarity with dimensional inspection equipment, tooling design & operation, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical authority for non-metallic materials and manufacturing processes used to produce precision internal cooling passages and hollow features in aerospace investment castings.
• Develop a “green field” core manufacturing operation, from core body material development through forming and thermal processing to finishing and strengthening.
• Optimize ceramic core manufacturing yields, ensure fixed process adherence & process control, and solve defects to secure a stable product flow.
• Collaborate with downstream wax and casting operations to maintain high-quality components.
