Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a professional environment with strong customer-service focus.
  • Previous experience in the medical field is preferred.
  • Willing to train the right person; ophthalmology/optometry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care with ophthalmologists and optometrists by performing eye-related clinical tasks.
  • Take patient histories, perform tests, and prepare patients for the doctor.
  • Provide information to help diagnose and treat patients.
  • Assist patients with customer service and information about treatments.
  • Conduct tonometry tests to measure intraocular pressure.
  • Measure visual acuity and document patient histories.
  • Administer ophthalmic medications as directed.
  • Perform visual field tests to assess sight.
  • Instruct patients on contact lens care and use.

Essential Job Functions
  • Work with ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide patient care by performing many different eye‑related clinical functions.
  • Take patient histories, perform various procedures and tests, and prepare patients to see the doctor.
  • Provide ophthalmologists and optometrists with important information to help diagnose and treat patients.
  • Assist and provide patients with excellent customer service and any necessary information regarding treatment.
  • Conduct tonometry tests to measure intraocular pressure.
  • Measure visual acuity.
  • Take and document patients’ medical histories.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
  • Conduct visual field tests to measure field of vision.
  • Instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full‑time position with the primary assignment in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
  • Travel to other office locations is required.
