Job summary

Centralia School District is seeking a part-time Athletic Coach at Centralia High School to lead and supervise student-athletes, teach fundamentals of the sport, and ensure a positive educational experience within interscholastic athletics.

The role emphasizes effective communication, collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Director, and adherence to WIAA and district policies. Salary details are provided with a part-time schedule for August through October; travel may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership and organization for all levels of the assigned sport/activity.
• Assist in supervising student-athletes before, during, and after practices, conditioning sessions, games, and travel.
• Set clear expectations for student-athletes, parents, and staff and enforce them.
• Communicate information to stakeholders and inform families about important dates and changes.
• Ensure a positive and conducive learning environment at all times.
• Collaborate with Head Coach and Athletic Director to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Assist with youth and off-season development programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to support the mission of Centralia School District and its athletic programs by providing a positive and educational experience to student-athletes through interscholastic athletics demonstrating effective leadership, supervision, and organization teaching the fundamentals of sport in a team environment.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes teaching the fundamentals of the assigned sport.
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed while working with a high degree of collaboration
• Ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, possess a growth mindset, and be customer-service oriented

Essential Functions:

• Provide direct leadership and organization for all levels of the assigned sport/activity.
• Assist’s in direct supervision of all student-athletes before/during/after all practices/conditioning sessions, games, travel and other school related activity.
• Assist’s in setting of clear expectations of student-athletes, parents and staff and holds members to those expectations.
• Assist’s in communicating pertinent information to all stakeholders in a timely manner and keeps families informed of important dates, schedule changes, and development opportunities.
• Ensures a positive and conducive learning environment at all times.
• Works with Head Coach and CSD Athletic Director ensuring program is abiding to WIAA, Evergreen Conference, and CSD policies and guidelines.
• Position may require use of district vehicle for transport to and from events which requires district approval and Type II licensing.
• Assists with implementation of youth and off-season development programs.
• Other duties as assigned

Salary: $2,617-$2,774

Work schedule: 2 hours per day plus matches. August through October.
