Job summary

New Mexico State University’s Facilities and Services team seeks a Plant Operator to maintain and operate essential utilities at the Las Cruces campus. Responsibilities include supervising boiler and cooling systems, water treatment monitoring, and ensuring continuous operations of heating, cooling, and power delivery.

The role requires a High School diploma with relevant experience or an Associate’s Degree with minimal experience, plus a State High Pressure Boiler License.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 3 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
• Must maintain a State High Pressure Boiler License per State Construction Industries Division.

Responsibilities

• Central Utility Plant staff manage the production and distribution of essential utilities such as heating, cooling, and power to support facility operations.
• Monitors water treatment for boilers, cooling towers and closed loop system.
• In an emergency, primary key positions are required to report to work unless directed otherwise for health and safety reasons.
