Job summary

University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) seeks a Boiler/Utility Operator to ensure safe operation of plant equipment serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus. You will start, operate, and shut down boilers, chillers, generators, and monitor 13.8 KV and 5 KV distribution from a central control room.

The role directs training of the Utility Operator I, performs preventative maintenance, and works a variable schedule. Requires HS diploma, 2 years of related experience, and valid licenses.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• 2 years of experience in operation/maintenance of boilers and related systems preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret blueprints, drawings and layouts.
• Demonstrated ability to operate industrial or commercial control systems.

Responsibilities

• Start, operate and shut down boilers and auxiliaries.
• Operate chillers, generators and related plant equipment from central control room.
• Monitor 13.8 KV and 5 KV electrical distribution systems.
• Direct training and supervision of Utility Operator I.
• Perform preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.
