Job summary

Penn Medicine in Bucks County is seeking a Central Supply Clerk to support the hospital's supply chain. You will handle inventory control, distribution of supplies and equipment, and manage code carts and linen across departments.

You will maintain cart inventories using the bar-code system, restock via par level records, and coordinate with SPD and other teams. You will also deliver items, inspect equipment, and ensure readiness for patient care, including STAT requests when needed.

Qualifications

  • Education or Equivalent Experience.
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required).
  • Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adequate inventories of patient care supplies on exchange carts and dressing carts using the bar-code system.
  • Focus on maximizing productivity while maintaining quality standards.
  • Keep carts neat and orderly.
  • Use par level record to restock carts daily.
  • Communicate, consult and share information with Associates and supervisors in SPD and as needed with other departments.
  • Answer telephone calls and beeper pages promptly, taking messages or following through to satisfy requests.
  • Assist in maintaining proper inventory level by notifying supervisor of changes in usage of products in assigned areas.
  • Competent on code cart exchange carts.
  • Deliver supplies and equipment throughout the hospital, responding to STAT requests immediately.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper working order and readiness for patient use.

Summary
  • Perform duties related to Central Supply Department, including inventory control and distribution of supplies, equipment, including code Cart management and linen to all areas of the hospital.
Responsibilities
  1. Maintain adequate inventories of patient care supplies on exchange carts and dressing carts using the bar‑code system.
    • Focus on maximizing productivity while maintaining quality standards.
    • Keep carts neat and orderly.
    • Use par level record to restock carts daily.
    • Communicate, consult and share information with Associates and supervisors in SPD and as needed with other departments.
    • Answer telephone calls and beeper pages promptly, taking messages or following through to satisfy requests.
    • Assist in maintaining proper inventory level by notifying supervisor of changes in usage of products in assigned areas.
  2. Competent on code cart exchange carts.
    • Adult code carts (high risk, high frequency).
    • Orange code box (high risk, high frequency).
    • Neonatal code carts (high risk, low frequency).
    • Broselow code carts (high risk, low frequency).
    • Monthly expiration checks.
    • Respond to stat call after a code to exchange code carts.
  3. Complete related paperwork for data processing. Write legibly for request tickets and all related paperwork for data entry.
  4. Deliver supplies and equipment throughout the hospital, responding to STAT requests immediately.
    • Inspect equipment to ensure proper working order and readiness for patient use.
    • Knowledgeable in the applications of patient equipment.
    • Alert supervisor of inventory problems.
    • Competent with assigned components of Meditech materials management module.
  5. Manage equipment in specific areas, leaving pars on essential equipment specific to that area, bring back clean equipment that are placed in clean rooms not needed. If receiving a STAT call for a certain piece of equipment, run to floors to find and deliver to area calling.
