Job summary

HCA Florida Kendall Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to join our Sterile Processing team in Miami. You will help ensure every instrument is cleaned, sterilized, and ready for the operating room, contributing to high-quality patient care.

The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and teamwork with nurses and surgeons to support timely, smooth surgeries in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program.
  • Certification as Sterile Processing Technician or plan to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • BCLS certification required within 30 days of employment start.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards.
  • Monitor sterilization cycles, document results, and resolve issues to ensure safe, high-quality care.
  • Prepare and organize instrument trays and surgical rooms based on daily schedule and procedural needs.
  • Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials; keep work area clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support efficient surgeries.

Education

High School Diploma / GED
Graduate from a Sterile Processing Technician school
Current Sterile Processing Technician Certification or agreement to obtain within 6 months
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days of employment

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards
  • Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver on our commitment to safe, high-quality care
  • Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on the daily schedule and procedural needs
  • Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
  • Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries
What qualifications you will need:
  • High School Graduate / GED
  • Graduate from a Sterile Processing Technician school.
  • Current Sterile Processing Technician Certification or agreement to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
