Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks a TH Sterile Supply Technician I/II to perform cleaning, sterilization, maintenance and delivery of instrumentation and supplies to operating rooms and clinics. Responsibilities include assembling, disassembling, inspecting, and wrapping trays, managing inventories, and documenting sterilization records.

Candidates must meet NYS requirements, CRCST or CSPDT credential, ability to obtain within 18 months, and possess strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required or obtainable within 18 months of hiring.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, assembles, performs minor repairs and wraps trays of surgical instruments, equipment and specialty supplies for sterilization.
• Disassembles, sorts, cleans, inspects and processes surgical instruments and equipment.
• Collects reusable items from, and dispenses supplies to points of use.
• Maintains, stores, and inventories surgical supplies.
• Operates ultrasonic and utility washers and performs specified daily maintenance tasks on the equipment.
• Operates sterilization equipment and performs specified daily maintenance tasks.
• Performs record keeping duties of the sterilization process for Joint Commission requirements.
