Job summary

Mission Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Central Sterile Technician to perform decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of sterile trays and instruments. Responsibilities include inventory management, data entry, and ensuring accurate batch processing of patient charges.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with two years of CST experience preferred, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required for new hires.
• Two years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate preferred.
• At least two years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required; Central Supply Certified certification required within two years from date of hire at designated facilities.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintain inventory and restock supplies; enter data and batch patient charge cards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of department locations and accessibility across facility.
• Maintain clear verbal and written communication with team and other departments.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards in sterile processing.

Responsibilities

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies, computer data entry and patient charge card batching. Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.

2. Two (2) years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

3. Central Supply Certified certification, preferred

4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):
