# Central Sterile Supply TechnicianHot JobNaval Medical Center San Diego - San Diego, CA 92134## OverviewSalary Range$36.00 - $41.09 HourlyPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftAnyCategoryHealth Care## Description**Naval Medical Center San Diego – San Diego, CA**Compass Government Solutions is currently recruiting qualified **Central Sterile Supply Technicians (SPD)** to provide sterile processing support services at **Naval Medical Center San Diego** in San Diego, California.This is an opportunity to support surgical readiness and patient care in a military medical center environment by ensuring reusable medical equipment and surgical instrumentation are properly cleaned, sterilized, assembled, and prepared for clinical use.**Work Schedule**Services shall be provided **Monday through Friday between the hours of 0600–0559**, with coverage primarily needed during **night shifts**.Shifts may be scheduled as:* **8-hour shifts** with an uncompensated 30-minute lunch break* **10-hour shifts** for any four days between Monday and Friday with an uncompensated 60-minute lunch breakScheduling is based on departmental needs. In no instance will the Healthcare Worker (HCW) be required to provide services more than **80 hours per two-week period**.**Typical Shift Coverage Examples*** **PM Shifts:** + 1245–2245 (4×10) + 1445–2245 (5×8)* **Night Shifts:** + 2045–0645 (4×10, Monday–Thursday)* **Duty Hours:** None* **On-Call Hours:** None* **Call-Back Hours:** None* **Overage Hours:** None**Job Duties:*** Receive, disassemble, and inspect reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation for damage* Receive and properly dispose of regulated medical waste, general waste, and soiled linen* Comply with OSHA regulations regarding the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in decontamination areas* Determine appropriate methods of decontamination, including removal of blood, tissue fragments, body fluids, and other contaminants* Perform decontamination procedures using wiping, soaking, rinsing, scrubbing, ultrasonic equipment, and washer sterilization/decontamination systems* Examine instruments and equipment after decontamination to ensure contaminants have been removed and items function properly* Ensure all medical devices and surgical instrumentation are properly labeled and identified* Assemble and prepare specialty trays and instrument sets* Select appropriate wrapping and packaging materials for medical devices and surgical instrument sets* Select and perform sterilization processes in accordance with standard Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) procedures, including: + Ethylene Oxide (ETO) Sterilization + Steam Sterilization* Maintain sterile processing workflow standards to support safe and efficient patient care operations## Qualifications**Education*** Completion of a central sterile supply training course required**Certification**Must possess one of the following current certifications:* International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), or* National Institute for Certification in Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution (NICHSPDP)**Experience*** Minimum of one year of experience within the last two years as a Central Sterile Supply Technician**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** Knowledge of sterile processing procedures, decontamination standards, and infection control practices* Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and reusable medical equipment* Ability to follow detailed sterilization and packaging procedures accurately* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills* Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced healthcare environment* Strong communication and teamwork skills* Ability to maintain professionalism in a military healthcare setting
