Position Overview:
SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB) Under the direct supervision of a Central Sterile Processing Technician provides for the decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation. Learns to perform all decontamination functions for surgical instrumentation and equipment using proper infection control techniques. Gains knowledge on how to follow manufacturer's recommendations and AAMI, AORN, and DNV standards. Demonstrates performance for the assembly of surgical instrumentation and equipment and prepares them for sterilization. Learns to utilize features of computerized tray tracking system. Understands how to correctly select appropriate sterilizer method and parameters. Assembles surgical case carts. Maintains clean and safe work environment. Understands the management of instrument inventory to assure timely distribution of instruments to the operating room. Expectation for resident program completion is 16 weeks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalency. Must have proof of successful passing of the CRCXT Certification test.
Experience: Two years of work experience. Completion of the Global Sterilization Course and successfully passing the certification exam and/or successful completion of the Central Sterile Processing Intern program.
Other Credentials:
Knowledge and Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills, detail oriented and highly organized. Proficient in English reading, writing and speaking skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent listening skills.

Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks Include the following: Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Airborne Communicable Disease, Extreme Temperatures, Uneven Surfaces or Elevations, Extreme Noise Levels, Dust/Particulate Matter.
