Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in Camden, NJ is seeking an OR/central sterile technician to perform sterilization, inspection and packaging of instruments, and to support OR staff in instrument reprocessing.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and CSP certification; 2 years of sterile processing/OR tech experience is preferred. Candidates must maintain certification and demonstrate excellent customer service and independence.

Responsibilities

• Carries out procedures for department functions, including washing, inspecting, packaging and sterilizing instruments/equipment.
• Maintains accurate monitoring records.
• Uses and interprets chemical and biological indicators.
• Performs cleaning of sterilization equipment.
• Assists OR personnel in locating/reprocessing instruments.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Follows established policies and procedures.
• Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.
• Provides excellent customer service interfacing with staff, management and physicians.

Short Description

Carries out procedures for department functions, including, but not limited to:

• Washing, inspecting, packaging, and sterilizing instruments/equipment
• Maintaining accurate monitoring records

Experience Required

• (2) years Previous operating room technician or central supply technician experience (including appropriate certification) required.
• Previous surgical instrumentation/equipment decontamination and sterilization with familiarity of various instrument sterilization methods required.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills, initiative and ability to take independent action, and be capable of establishing and maintaining outstanding working relationships

Education Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.

License/Certification Requirements

• CSP Certification (CRCST or CBSPD Certification).

Special Requirements

• Must maintain certification.
