Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking a Manager of Central Sterile Processing to lead department operations, ensure quality, and develop the Sterile Processing team. This day-shift, Monday–Friday leadership role focuses on managing surgical supplies, instrument tracking, and process improvements within the department.

You will collaborate with the Purchasing and Surgical Services teams to optimize workflows, monitor budgets, and drive performance. Prior CS processing leadership experience is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing, Business, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology.
• 3 years of supervisory or team lead experience required.
• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association.
• Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician annually.
• Must be able to stand for shift hours and lift 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead department operations, quality, and team development.
• Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets; coordinate with Director.
• Promote service management and compliance with hospital policies.
• Mentor and develop staff; address workplace diversity.
• Coordinate with Purchasing on instrument tracking and sets; ensure timely returns of missing components.
• Represent Surgical Central Processing to hospital user groups on operations and purchasing issues.
• Run department on off-shifts and weekends when needed.
