Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to support OR operations and patient care. You will help ensure instrument readiness, maintain sterile processing standards, and collaborate with surgical teams to enhance efficiency and safety.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a sterile processing or surgical technology program, and experience in SPD/OR with instrument management systems; CSPDT certification within one year is required.

Qualifications

• GED or HS Diploma required.
• Graduate of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology course; online programs without hands-on instruction not accepted.
• In lieu of completion of the course, 5 years' working SPD/OR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate close working relationship between Sterile Processing and the Operating Room.
• Anticipate needs and bridge gaps to ensure surgeon satisfaction and case completion.
• Improve interdepartmental communication for patient quality care and safety.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate a close working relationship between Sterile Processing and the Operating Room. A major focus will be anticipating the needs and bridging the gap to ensure surgeon satisfaction, case completion, interdepartmental communication, and patient quality care and safety by utilizing problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Graduate of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology course. Online programs that do not offer hands‑on instruction or experience will not be accepted. Required or
• In Lieu of completion of the course, 5 years' working experience within SPD or the OR Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of collective experience in the Peri‑Operative environment to include both Sterile Processing and the Operating Room Required and
• 3 years case cart knowledge and experience Required and
• Experience with Instrument Management Tracking systems, preferably Microsystems (SPM) Required and
• In lieu of degree additional 5 years of working experience with SPD or the OR Required

Licenses and Certifications

• CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech from one of the two certification boards (IAHCSMM or CSPD) within one year of hire within 1 Year Required
