Job summary

Constellium is seeking a Central Shops Planner to coordinate planning and scheduling across the Central Shops, including AC, Cylinder Shop, MW, EEM, and Outside Utilities. The role ensures safety, quality, and cost objectives are met while coordinating maintenance and project activities for plant operations.

The planner will also drive PM program development and improvements, manage contractor activities, and oversee procurement and inventory to support timely delivery and reliable equipment

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, AC, Hydraulics or 5 years’ industrial experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing in the relevant discipline.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to a new environment.
• Strong communication skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Plan & schedule all mechanical, electrical, and AC work for Central Shops (Maintenance).
• Generate new PMs and revise existing PMs.
• Recordkeeping of performance, repair histories, outage planning, and worker time on jobs.
• Procure parts, facilitate parts repairs, and monitor inventories for accuracy and machine availability.
• Attend outage meetings and develop standard scopes of work for routine jobs.

Job Summary:

The Central Shops Planner is responsible for managing the planning and scheduling of all work flowing through the Central Shops, which include the AC Shop, Cylinder Shop, Central Maintenance Welding (MW), Central Electrical and Equipment Maintenance (EEM), and Outside Utilities. This role ensures that maintenance and project activities are effectively coordinated to support plant operations. In addition to scheduling and resource planning, the Planner oversees projects and contractor activities related to plant utilities, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and cost objectives. The incumbent also plays a key role in the development and continuous improvement of preventive maintenance (PM) programs—facilitating, reviewing, and refining PMs to enhance both efficiency and performance.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in one of the following fields (Mechanical, Electrical, AC, Hydraulics or 5 years’ experience within an industrial setting), required
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, required

• Effective communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, preferred

Dimensions:

• Scope: This position spans the entire plant and serves as a key support function for all Autonomous Production Units (APUs), providing centralized maintenance and project planning services.
• Magnitude: While positioned at a first-line leadership level, the role carries significant financial responsibility. Ineffective crew utilization or failure to displace contract work can result in substantial negative impacts on project cash flow.
• Communications: The role requires frequent communication and coordination at the General Supervisor level across multiple APUs. It also provides technical leadership in areas such as construction management and project execution.
• Challenges: A major challenge of this position is managing work across departments with a wide geographical footprint, while maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and effective delivery service.
