Job summary

Harmons Grocery is seeking a packaging associate for our Central Production Facility. You will label, package, and box products for distribution to stores, following recipes and food safety guidelines.

You must be comfortable in a cold warehouse, stand for long periods, and work as part of a production line team. Prior food production or packaging experience and a current food handler's permit are preferred.

$15.00 -$18.85 PER HOUR

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to ensure that our Central Production Facility products are prepared, labeled, and boxed for shipping accurately.This person will be packaging, labelling, and preparing Central Production Facility products for distribution to stores.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Label packages accurately according to product and order specifications
• Package products following recipes and food safety guidelines
• Box and transfer finished products to designated shipping coolers
• Ensure products that are personally prepared are run through X Ray machines prior to boxing
• Inspect products for quality and report any issues
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Rotates products as needed in shipping cooler and freezer
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
• Work efficiently as part of a production line team
• Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
• Sets a professional and positive example to others
• Assists as needed to ensure the success of the store as a whole

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

• Consistent and daily interaction with Central Production associates

• Basic math skills
• Current food handler's permit
• Prior experience in food production or packaging
• Must enjoy working with and handling fresh food products including but not limited to raw meat, fresh vegetables, hummus, raw dough, etc.
• Basic ability to read and follow instructions and labels
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with diverse groups of people
• Ability to work in a cold environment (refrigerated and freezer areas)

Also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
