Highpointe Surgery Center is seeking a detail-oriented Central Processing Technician to decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments. You will trouble-shoot issues, maintain sterile storage, and ensure readiness for procedures in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include receiving used instruments, cleaning with appropriate methods, inspecting for damage, and ensuring complete, correctly labeled instrument sets.

Qualifications

  • Sort, assemble, and package sterilized instruments according to procedures.
  • Ensure instrument sets are complete and properly organized for use.
  • Label packages with sterilization and expiration dates.
  • Maintain an inventory of sterile supplies, monitor stock levels, and rotate stock.
  • Store sterilized items in designated areas to maintain sterility.
  • Conduct quality control checks on sterilization equipment and run biological/chemical indicators tests.
  • Document sterilization processes and inventory activities accurately and in compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and infection control staff to maintain a safe environment.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to sterile processing.
  • Stay updated on best practices and continue education in sterile processing.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Central Processing Technician to join our team and play a vital role in keeping our surgical operations safe, efficient, and ready for every procedure. In this position, you’ll be responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment—ensuring our clinical teams have exactly what they need, when they need it. Responsibilities
  • Receive used surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies from various departments within the healthcare facility.
  • Disassemble, clean, and decontaminate instruments and equipment using appropriate techniques and equipment, such as ultrasonic cleaners and sterilization machines.
  • Inspect items for damage or defects and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow strict protocols and standards to ensure that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and free from contaminants.
Instrument Assembly And Packaging
  • Sort, assemble, and package sterilized instruments and equipment according to specific procedures and protocols.
  • Ensure that instrument sets are complete and properly organized for use in surgical procedures.
  • Label packages with relevant information, such as sterilization dates and expiration dates.
Sterile Supply Management
  • Maintain an inventory of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Monitor supply levels and reorder items as needed to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Rotate stock to prevent expired items from being used in patient care.
  • Properly store sterilized items in designated storage areas to maintain sterility.
Quality Control And Assurance
  • Conduct routine quality control checks on sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform biological and chemical indicators tests to verify the effectiveness of the sterilization process.
  • Document sterilization processes, quality control checks, and inventory management activities accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaboration And Communication
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, including nurses, surgeons, and central supply staff.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns regarding sterilization processes or equipment to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work closely with infection control staff to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
Adherence To Policies And Regulations
  • Adhere to all surgery center policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to sterile processing and infection control.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions for the proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to ethical standards in the healthcare field.
Continuing Education
  • Stay updated on best practices, guidelines, and regulations related to sterile processing through ongoing education and training.
  • Maintain certification through continuing education requirements and professional development activities.
