Cynet HealthStaff is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to perform decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments in accordance with infection control policies. Responsibilities include inspecting instruments, assembling sets, and maintaining documentation in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of sterilization principles, be able to work with diverse populations, and be physically able to lift instrument sets while delivering quality patient care.

Sterile Processing - Sterile Processing Tech

Profession: Clinical - Allied

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days / Evenings

Hours per Shift: Day: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM | Evening: 10:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Experience: Minimum one year of prior experience as a central services technician preferred

License: Certified Central Services Technician Registration required or must obtain within one year of hire

Certifications: Certification as a Registered Certified Central Services Technician required

Must-Have:

  • Knowledge of the principles of decontamination/sterilization
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations
  • Physically able to lift heavy instrument sets
  • Customer service focused

Description:Incumbents in this position are responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with department and infection control policies.

Finds, effectively uses, and provides key patient care-related information, demonstrating the potential clinical implications.

Exercises judgment that influences the delivery of patient care through process and patient experience.

Responds positively and readily to changing priorities and work assignments.

Washes, disinfects, and decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment according to policy.

Sorts, reassembles, wraps, and places instruments in appropriate containers according to instrument cards and appropriate sterilization instructions.

Updates sets and methods of sterilization.

Inspects instruments for integrity, functionality, and cleanliness before assembly in containers, wraps, or peel pouches.

Maintains accurate instrument sterilization documentation.

Handles instruments, equipment, and supplies to maintain their sterility and integrity.

Technical skills are performed to optimize processes, materials, and time management.

Estimates supply usage for the upcoming week and requests supplies to be ordered as needed in the sterile processing area.

Maintains the decontamination and instrument assembly area in an orderly and organized manner.

Demonstrates skill and proficiency with the use of all equipment and instrumentation.

Adapts to new learning requirements for the use of all new technology.

Follows all established policies, procedures, and safety initiatives.

Protects and respects the confidentiality of personal health information.

Ensures the timely completion of individual and department responsibilities and projects that meet department expectations.

Participates in unit/department meetings and activities.

Positively supports and mentors the integration of new employees into the workgroup.
