Job summary

DeKalb County School District in Atlanta is seeking an experienced Carpenter to perform general maintenance repairs and small renovation projects for the DCSD system. You will complete projects to specifications, handle ceiling/tile work, walls, doors, and assist with portable classroom needs.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of carpentry experience, and preferred college coursework.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Associate’s degree or equivalent college coursework/training preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of carpentry/related experience required.

Responsibilities

Completes assigned projects according to specifications (ceiling and tile work, walls, doors).
Assists with relocation/setup of portable classrooms.
Constructs and repairs structures/fixtures in wood and other materials.
Secures materials, tools, and equipment for projects, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Reviews plans and completes small renovation projects; constructs steps and landings.
Communicates with supervisor daily on work plans and closes completed work orders electronically.
Keeps tools maintained and organized for safe usage.
Operates district vehicles per laws and safety rules.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
