Job summary

The DeKalb County School District is seeking an experienced and professional Carpenter to perform general maintenance and small renovation projects within the DCSD system. This on-site role focuses on completing projects to specifications, supporting portable classrooms, and maintaining safety and efficiency in all tasks.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for an Associate's degree or completed college coursework and at least three years of carpentry

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or equivalent college coursework preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of carpentry, construction, or related field experience.

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned projects according to specifications and designs, including ceiling and tile work, building, removing walls, hanging sheetrock and finishing, and hanging doors.
• Assists with the relocation, setup, and related facility needs of portable classrooms.
• Constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials.
• Secures materials, tools, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete assigned projects efficiently and safely.
• Reviews plans and completes small renovation projects; constructs steps and landings.
• Communicates with supervisor every morning on work plans, reviews any incomplete work orders to ensure completion, and closes completed work orders electronically.
• Keeps tools maintained and organized to support safe and efficient completion of assigned work.
• Operates assigned District vehicles in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and safety requirements.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
