GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
In a central mail room to perform simple clerical and manual tasksin the handling and delivery of mail, records, and supplies tovarious state agencies; and to do related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the close supervision of a superior; work is reviewedin process and upon completion for conformance to United StatesPostal Regulations and established procedures.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
In a Central Mail Room (such as the Division of Methods, DataProcessing and Central Services) to perform simple clerical andmanual tasks in the handling and delivery of mail, records, andsupplies to various state agencies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS ANDCAPACITIES: A familiarity with the United States Postal Regulationsand Rates as applied to computing postage to a wide variety ofclasses and kinds of mail; the ability to apply such regulationsand rates involving the making of arithmetical computations forpostage accurately and with reasonable speed; the ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with otheremployees; the ability to understand and carry out simple writtenand oral instructions; the physical ability to lift and carrybundles of mail and supplies that sometimes weigh in excess offifty pounds; and related capacities and abilities. EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE: EDUCATION: Such as may have been gained throughgraduation from a senior high school; or EXPERIENCE: Such as mayhave been gained through employment in the performance of simpleclerical and manual tasks. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: At the time ofappointment: must possess a motor vehicles operator's licenseissued in conformance to the requirements of the Rhode IslandRegistry of Motor Vehicles; and, also, must be certified by alicensed physician as physically qualified; to perform the dutiesof this class of position and to meet the above-stated physicalability requirement.
Prefers experience with hand scanners, package handling anddelivery, bulk mail, metering and any other mail roomexperience.
