Job Summary:

Be part of the team at Messer responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our air separation plant fleet from our central control room in Bethlehem, PA. The Remote Operator 1 oversees approximately 6 plants during their shift, managing everything from steady state operation and optimization to full plant restart events. Work collaboratively, solve real-world problems, and help maintain our supply of Gases for Life to our customers.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operation of approximately six air separation plants via computer interface during your shift.
• Respond to and troubleshoot process upsets and plant issues.
• Manage alarms and respond appropriately.
• Perform plant shutdowns and startups.
• Manage power and respond to emergencies.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators and investigate/escalate deficiencies.
• Communicate plant status and performance to the business.
• Provide ad hoc support including alarm response, process adjustments, troubleshooting, and investigation for non-ROC plants as needed.
• Maintain the integrity of the Messer Operations Network by adhering to security practices.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Candidates must meet one of the following:
• At least 2 years of plant experience in operations (e.g., chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, power).
• Military experience (e.g., Navy Nukes, Navy Fire Controlman, Air Force Fuels).
• Recent college graduates with an engineering or physical science degree.
