Job summary

The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the Center Director of NFREC. This 12-month administrative role leads research, extension and teaching programs serving eastern Florida Panhandle regions, coordinating across UF/IFAS and external partners.

The Director will manage budgets and personnel, actively seek funding, and shape strategic priorities for regional agriculture and natural resources, impacting regional communities and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in a field related to agriculture or natural resources.
• Experience conducting major research, extension and/or teaching programs.
• Credentials meriting appointment at the rank of tenured Professor.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills.
• Experience obtaining legislative and financial support from commodity and industry groups.
• Commitment to the mission of the Land‑Grant system.

Responsibilities

• Lead NFREC research, extension and teaching programs.
• Manage budget and personnel; develop short- and long-term goals.
• Pursue private funding and endowments for sustainability.
• Engage with local, state, and federal agencies and UF/IFAS leadership.
• Promote teamwork among faculty and staff and coordinate with other UF units.
• Develop new faculty positions and programs for future agriculture and natural resources.
