Responsibilities

  • Monitor staff attendance and absenteeism daily; maintain records (T&A, Sign-In Roster, leave) and address variances.
  • Orient new staff within five days; coach and arrange training as needed.
  • Conduct probationary performance reviews per policy and document process.
  • Perform mid-year and annual staff evaluations according to schedule.
  • Develop Employee Improvement Plans when warranted.
  • Maintain up-to-date credentials and progress toward educational requirements for staff.
  • Arrange pre-approved release-time for professional development while maintaining staff:child ratio.

  • Provide daily on-site supervision for all staff and volunteers of assigned center (s); inform Regional Administrator of staffing needs and changes immediately.
  • Manage and monitor staff attendance and absenteeism daily; maintain accurate records (T&A, Sign-In Roster, Personal and Sick Leave; conduct conferences immediately regarding variances; maintain appropriate records.
  • Orient new staff within five days of employment onset; coach/mentor as appropriate during probationary period; provide and/or arrange for training and technical assistance immediately upon need identification.
  • Conduct probationary performance reviews in accordance with established policies and procedures; document process accordingly.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations of Center staff in accordance with established schedule.
  • In conjunction with Performance Appraisal/Evaluation process, develop Employee Improvement Plan when warranted.
  • Maintain an up-to-date listing of all staff credentials and records on professional development pursuit status for those pursuing degree course works to assure staff progress towards educational requirements as supported by MAP and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Arrange for pre-approved release-time as needed for center staff professional development assuring staff:child ratio is maintained at all times during site operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development or related field with a minimum of three years demonstrated experience in leadership and/or management position in an early learning environment or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related management field with a minimum of 18 hours in Early Childhood Development.
  • Strong knowledge of Head Start practices of Early Childhood Development and/or Human Resources.
  • Working knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Mississippi Child Care regulatory environment or other child development, social service programs, human resources management or related area in a non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in administration and supervision; office management, case management or related areas.
  • Oral and written communication skills which support positive feedback among operational levels.
