Job summary

Service Corporation International seeks an entry-level Groundskeeper at a cemetery or funeral home location. You will maintain lawns, flower beds, and overall grounds to uphold a respectful, serene environment for interments and related services.

The role involves operating turf and grounds equipment, performing seasonal tasks, and assisting with interment logistics while following safety and regulatory guidelines. This hands-on position requires teamwork and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6+ months of relevant experience in landscaping or physical labor preferred.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and basic equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Capable of safe and effective teamwork and communication with associates and families.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, plows snow, waters lawns, fertilizes and trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to ensure proper standards are maintained.
• Operates lawn and grounds equipment including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and other related power equipment.
• Removes debris and trash from grounds and maintains cemetery grounds.
• Participates on teams for openings and closings for interments, entombments and inurnments.
• Assists in determining grave locations and layout with supervision, following verification procedures.
• May perform minor repairs to cemetery buildings or equipment and assist in cremation-related duties under supervision.
