The City of Valdosta is seeking a Grounds/Cemetery Maintenance worker to operate trucks, tractors, backhoes, and related equipment across city routes and cemetery sites. You will service equipment, perform grave-related duties, and ensure safe, efficient operations on public property.

Responsibilities include mowing and pruning, using hand and power tools, coordinating with dispatch, and assisting in traffic control as needed to support cemetery and grounds maintenance throughout the city.

Formación

• Knowledge of techniques, equipment, and supplies used in grounds and cemetery maintenance.
• Knowledge of city and departmental safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of the geography of the city, including street names and locations.
• Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles, trucks and light equipment.
• Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
• Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Responsabilidades

• Operate trucks and trailers, read-end loader, or other equipment along predetermined routes to collect refuse or transport equipment and materials.
• Operate a tractor with bush hog and other grounds maintenance equipment to mow grass on city rights-of-way, in the cemetery, and on other city properties.
• Operate hand and power tools in the performance of ground maintenance duties.
• Plan and prune trees and shrubs.
• Operate a backhoe and dump truck to close and open graves in the cemetery.
• Maintain radio contact with dispatchers to send and receive information.
• Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment; perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Assist in traffic control at work sites.
• Perform related duties.
