Job Duties

Serve Virginia's veterans and their families by ensuring they receive benefits, support, quality care, and recognition for their service and sacrifice. This position involves locating grave/cremation sites within designated garden sections using maps, pins, and measuring devices, then opening and closing each site. The individual must be capable of operating heavy cemetery equipment such as backhoes, tractors, dump trucks, and vault carts. Maintenance of grounds, including bushes, mulch beds, gravesites, and cemetery buildings, is required, along with familiarity with placing grave markers. Additional duties are assigned by the Cemetery Superintendent or Caretaker Manager related to cemetery operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Familiarity with cemetery grounds maintenance procedures, including operations involving maps, pins, and gravesite numbering.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance for light and heavy cemetery equipment, and ability to operate power tools, perform plastering, plumbing, roofing, and carpentry tasks.
• Ability to lift/maneuver a 220-pound grave marker with assistance.

Additional Considerations

Combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and abilities. A high school diploma or GED, or six months of cemetery experience, is required. A valid Virginia driver's license is also required.
