Job summary

Titan America is seeking a Safety Intern to assist the plant Safety team at our Troutville, VA facility. This hands-on role supports inspections, training coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement projects in a heavy manufacturing environment regulated by MSHA.

The intern will gain exposure to cement plant operations, safety policy updates, recordkeeping, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, Industrial Safety, or related field.
• Preferred: in sophomore, junior, or senior year; master’s students welcomed.
• Strong interest in workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
• Basic knowledge of hazard identification and OSHA/MSHA concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Support safety inspections, observations, and facility walk-throughs.
• Help identify, document, and communicate hazards in the plant.
• Assist with developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safe work procedures.
• Assist in preparing safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Support safety campaigns and employee recognition activities.
• Maintain records for inspections, audits, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Organize safety-related supplies and materials.
