SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:

The Cement Finisher is primarily responsible for prepping pipe, operating gunite machine and cement finishing of pipe in the coating and lining department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all safety and company policies / procedures and promotes a safe culture
  • Applies gunite to pipe by machine and hand application
  • Finish cement
  • Inspect pipe before and after pipe is coated and or lined
  • Prepares pipe for coating
  • Cleans and inspects machines

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applies various types of coatings to pipe by machine and hand application
  • Loads and unloads product in to specific machines
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines
  • Operate forklift and skip loader
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to operate a gunite machine / hose
  • Must be skilled in cement finishing
  • Must be skilled at operating various coating / lining machines and related equipment
  • Must be skilled to apply a variety of coating / lining finishes by machine and hand application
  • Reading gauges and watching guides
  • Ability to read drawings to determine correct coating / lining to be applied to pipe
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification if required
  • Able to operate skip loader / grader equipment
  • Ability to use hand held radios for communicating

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Minimum two years experience with gunite machine / hose and cement finishing
  • Minimum one year experience with coating / lining operation and application experience on steel pipe
  • Minimum two years experience reading drawings
  • Basic mathematics skills
