Job summary

GCC is seeking a Control Room Leader at our Tijeras cement plant, located near Albuquerque. The role requires 2–3 years of cement-industry leadership, the ability to run the control board when needed, and willingness to work shifts. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

The position coordinates the control panel operations, supports the Production Manager, and emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities of workers monitoring the control panel and make adjustments to kilns, raw and finish grinding, and material handling systems.
• Support Production Manager in operations and respond to abnormal/emergency conditions.
• Maintain continuous surveillance of kiln and mill processes during the shift.
• Liaise with quality control to ensure uniform processing and conduct safety inspections.
• Keep records of equipment and processes, perform maintenance and minor repairs to maintain continuous operation.
• Provide on-the-job training to team members and coordinate with service departments as needed.
• Perform clean-up and housekeeping and assist in other duties as assigned

Join our team at GCC’s cement manufacturing plant in Tijeras, NM, conveniently located just 15 minutes from Albuquerque. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Experience and abilities, you will need:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have 2 to 3 years’ experience working as a Control Room Leader in the cement industry.
• Must be able to run the board in the event a Control Room Operator is absent
• Must be willing to work shifts.

Annual Compensation Range = $93,000 to $110,000

What you will do:

Coordinates activities of workers engaged in the monitoring of the control panel, which includes making necessary adjustments to the kilns raw and finish grinding, and the material handling systems. This is a working lead position that supports the Production Manager in all aspects of operations. Must be able to take appropriate action under abnormal and emergency conditions.

• Safety is a prime consideration in this position. Employees must wear proper protective equipment and follow appropriate safety procedures in all areas where duties are performed.
• Maintain continuous surveillance of the kiln and mill processes during the assigned shift.
• Maintain liaison with quality control to ensure uniform processing.
• Conduct safety inspections of the department and maintain good housekeeping.
• Conduct Continuous Improvement and Safety Meetings with departmental employees on a regular basis.
• Keep accurate, neat, timely records of equipment and process as directed.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs within capabilities to maintain continuous operation and assist in the field as needed.
• Determine the need for assistance from the service departments (electrical, maintenance, mobile equipment, etc.) and request appropriate personnel through the Team Leader.
• Provide on-the-job training to team members.
• Will perform clean-up and housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.
