Job summary

Fat Head’s Brewery in Middleburg Heights, Ohio is seeking a Cellar Technician to support the fermentation and cellaring operations, ensuring high quality and consistency across batches.

You will execute SOPs, sanitize and maintain equipment, document notes, assist in yeast handling, and coordinate with Maintenance and Quality. This is a full-time, in-person role with shift options 12pm–8pm or 2pm–10pm. A commitment to safety and accurate record-keeping is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of professional cellar experience in a production brewery.
  • Fermentation Science Degree or related four-year degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of brewing science, brewhouse, and cellar operations.
  • Computer and math proficiency.
  • Obsessive attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.
  • Passion for the brewing process and beer.

Responsibilities

  • Execute SOPs for fermentation, clarification, carbonation and packaging.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment and work areas.
  • Maintain equipment used for cooling and yeast addition to wort.
  • Provide support to brewing operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and document notes.
  • Assist in yeast handling and fermentation management.
  • Communicate with Maintenance and Quality as needed.
  • Follow safety standards including PPE and chemical handling.

Summary

We are seeking a Cellar Technician to join our team at Fat Head’s Brewery in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. In this role, you will play a vital part in the cellaring process of our brewery, ensuring the highest quality standards are met while contributing to our mission of producing outstanding craft beer.

Responsibilities
  • Execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each phase of fermentation, clarification, carbonation and packaging.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment and work areas
  • Maintain equipment that cools and adds yeast to wort to produce beer
  • Provide support to brewing operations
  • Maintain accurate records and thoroughly document notes
  • Assist in yeast handling and fermentation management
  • Communicate with Maintenance and Quality Departments as needed
  • Follow all safety standards including safe chemical handling and sanitary equipment maintenance
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Daily use of computer inventory software to ensure raw material availability
  • Provide a safe and clean environment for brewery tours, events, and employees
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum 1 year of professional cellar experience in a production brewery preferred
  • Fermentation Science Degree or related four-year degree preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of brewing science, brewhouse, and cellar operations
  • Computer and math proficiency
  • Obsessive attention to detail and record keeping

  • Work is primarily performed in a production brewing environment. May be exposed to temperature changes, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibrations and other brew production related hazards
  • Shift times may vary and there is a short weekend rotation shift once every approximately 6 weeks.
