Job summary

Enerpac Tool Group is seeking a Cell Lead to drive daily operations on a fast-paced manufacturing floor. You will coach and mentor a 25-30 person team, ensure safety and quality, and partner with supervisors to address challenges and optimize workflow.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement. You will lead start-up meetings, track KPIs, manage training, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.

Summary - basic function of the role

As a Cell Lead, you are the frontline leader, the driving force behind a high-performing team. You coach, mentor, train, and motivate employees, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence. While not a direct supervisor, you play a critical role in cultivating talent, fostering engagement, and maintaining high standards in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

You are the first point of contact for your team, providing hands‑on technical support, problem‑solving, and ensuring all policies, work instructions, and best practices are followed. You proactively identify and elevate both personnel and operational challenges to the Production Supervisor as needed while maintaining a solutions‑oriented approach.

With an unwavering commitment to lean principles and operational excellence, you facilitate daily team meetings, track key performance indicators, lead process improvements, and champion a positive work environment. You also step in where needed, whether troubleshooting issues, optimizing workflow, or filling in on the assembly line.

As a leader by example, you ensure your team is engaged, trained, and equipped to succeed-driving results that meet both production goals and company objectives. Monday - Friday; 5am - 1:30 pm; Overtime 5am-3:30pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead, Coach, and Develop the Team - Serve as the first line of leadership, mentoring, training, and motivating employees to build a high-performing, engaged, and accountable workforce. Ensure team members are cross-trained and continuously developing their skills.
• Oversee Production Operations - Direct and support up to 25-30 employees to ensure products and components are built to Enerpac's quality, safety, and efficiency standards, following work instructions, bill of materials, and best practices.
• Problem-Solve and Troubleshoot - Act as the first point of contact for technical challenges, diagnosing issues, coaching employees through solutions, and escalating operational or personnel concerns to the Production Supervisor when necessary.
• Monitor and Drive Performance Metrics - Maintain Hour-Hour Boards and the SQDC board, ensuring accurate tracking of key performance indicators while driving continuous improvement initiatives within the cell.
• Ensure Safety, Compliance, and 5S Standards - Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all employees follow Enerpac's safety policies, 5S principles, and operational guidelines to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment.
• Conduct Quality Inspections - Perform and oversee product and component inspections, addressing defects, ensuring corrective actions are taken, and supporting ongoing quality improvements.
• Facilitate Shift Meetings and Communication - Lead daily start-up meetings, align the team on production priorities, communicate updates across shifts, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and cross‑functional teams.
• Support Production Flow and Scheduling - Assist with resource allocation, scheduling, and material coordination, ensuring production goals are met efficiently while minimizing downtime and disruptions.
• Step in as Needed - Assist with production tasks when required, fill leadership gaps to maintain smooth operations, and work overtime as needed to support business objectives and meet production goals.
• Drive Employee Engagement and Team Culture - Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high‑energy work environment, reinforcing company values, encouraging accountability, and ensuring policies are followed consistently.
• Lead Onboarding and Training Initiatives - Assist with comprehensive onboarding for new hires, including conducting plant tours, assigning trainers, managing training logs and documentation, ensuring completion of required training modules, and supporting new employee integration into the team and culture.

• Leadership & Team Development - Proven ability to coach, mentor, and guide a team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills to effectively lead daily operations.
• Problem-Solving & Technical Expertise - Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues while ensuring adherence to work instructions, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.
• Operational Efficiency & Decision-Making - Experience in coordinating workflow, optimizing production processes, and managing resources to drive efficiency, meet goals, and navigate challenges in a fast-paced environment.
• Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing - Strong understanding of Lean principles, 5S, and process improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions.
• Accountability & Reliability - Demonstrates strong work ethic, attendance, and adherence to company policies. Takes ownership of responsibilities, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and maintains a high level of professionalism.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
• Hands‑on experience with assembly tools, equipment, and troubleshooting in a production setting.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, inventory systems, and data tracking).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a leadership or frontline coaching role within manufacturing.
• Diverse experience across multiple plant functions (assembly, warehouse operations, material handling, etc.).
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to drive operational improvements.
• Self‑directed, proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and make informed decisions.

Physical Demands

Employee will lift 1-30 pounds intermittently and may have to lift documents/work materials up to 70 pounds (assisted lift) in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk, bend and lift for a significant portion of the role. Employee will need manual (hand) dexterity to assemble/repair small parts for long periods of time. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members at all levels within a diverse workforce.

Work Environment

Employee will be in a manufacturing environment where they may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to electrical shock and vibration. Employee will be exposed to elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
