Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Cell and Gene Therapy Business Coordinator Supervisor to lead the program's business coordination team and secure timely patient access and accurate reimbursement.

Responsibilities include managing insurance verification, authorizations, payer communications, financial clearance, and billing documentation while standardizing workflows to minimize financial risk and support patient experience across care continuum.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.
• 3+ years of directly related work experience in healthcare operations, insurance authorization, patient access, managed care, revenue cycle, financial counseling, or a related field.
• 1+ year of experience as a prior lead, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance, payer requirements, prior authorization, benefits verification, and reimbursement processes.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively supervise staff and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and resolve complex operational and financial issues.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvement initiatives that enhance patient access, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

• Authorizations processes for inpatient and outpatient cellular and gene therapy services; pricing changes for cellular therapy products; overseeing purchase orders and financial reconciliation.
• Providing guidance on wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) and 340B pricing strategies; evaluating reimbursement considerations for clinical trials and commercial therapies.
• Serving as the primary financial liaison with pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and institutional stakeholders.
• Leading the Business Coordinator team to support financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and growth of the Cell and Gene Therapy Program.
