Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Inspector (CEI) to support transport infrastructure projects in the Tampa, FL area. The role emphasizes field inspection, adherence to FDOT standards, and supervision of junior inspectors.

Applicant must have a high school diploma with 4+ years of experience, a valid driver's license, and relevant CTQP certifications. Contractors’ coordination, daily records, and on-site mentoring are key responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus 4 years of related experience or equivalent
• Valid US Driver's License required with ability to visit project sites; MVR review may be required
• Four CEI experience in roadway or bridge construction preferred
• CTQP Final Estimates Level I / CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I / CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges) / CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I & II / CTQP Earthwork inspections; FDOT Intermediate MOT

Responsibilities

• Perform highly complex field surveying and construction layout with precision
• Inspect construction work, verify computations, and conduct field testing for quality and compliance
• Coordinate, oversee, and mentor junior inspectors to ensure consistent inspection execution
• Plan, prioritize, and manage project timelines and deadlines
• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new team members
• Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and applicable codes
• Maintain daily field inspection records and reports
• Assist in punch list development, system testing, and commissioning activities
• Track quality assurance progress and address deficiencies
• Contribute to area and equipment turnover documentation for project closeout

Job description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly skilled CEI Senior Inspector to join our team and support ongoing construction engineering and inspection efforts in the Tampa, FL area. This role will play a critical part in ensuring that major transportation and infrastructure projects are delivered in accordance with FDOT standards, contract requirements, and overall project objectives.

• Performs highly complex technical assignments related to field surveying and construction layout, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications
• Verifies engineering computations, inspects construction work, and conducts field testing to maintain quality and compliance standards
• Coordinates, oversees, and provides guidance to junior inspectors to ensure consistent execution of inspection activities
• Operates under the general supervision of the Project Administrator while exercising independent judgment in daily responsibilities
• Utilizes experience and sound judgment to effectively plan, prioritize, and accomplish project goals
• Establishes and manages project timelines and deadlines to support overall project delivery
• Provides on-the-job training and mentorship to new team members to support their development and integration
• Monitors conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and applicable code requirements through detailed inspection activities
• Conducts daily field inspections and maintains accurate, organized inspection records and reports
• Participates in punch list development, system testing, and commissioning activities to ensure project completion standards are met
• Tracks and reports on quality assurance progress, identifying and addressing any deficiencies
• Contributes to documentation for area and equipment turnover packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy for project closeout

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
• Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
