Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Project Administrator in Orlando, FL, to manage financial and contract administration of projects. Responsibilities include supporting Senior Project Engineers, coordinating inspections, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering or significant experience in construction projects. Notably, immigration sponsorship is not available for this role. Work is largely office-based but may require some field inspections.

Qualifications

  • For personnel with engineering degrees: requires two years of engineering experience in transportation projects.
  • For personnel without engineering degrees: requires eight years of CEI or roadway or bridge construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Project Engineers in monitoring financial performance.
  • Coordinate project inspection to ensure compliance.
  • Interact with various stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Track project progress and advise on overruns.
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of projects.

Job description

CEI Project Administrator

Location: Orlando, FL

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), a 100% employee‑owned consulting firm, is seeking a Project Administrator in the Orlando, Florida area. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial and contract administration of assigned projects.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F‑1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the assigned Senior Project Engineers in monitoring the financial performance of the construction project.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications and standards.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub‑contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
  • Direct and assign specific tasks to inspectors.
  • Notify contractor of non‑compliance and corrective action.
  • Track project progress and advise parties of possible overruns and critical project issues.
  • Analyze project‑related issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of projects including contract reviews, contracting, scheduling, month‑end processing, project accounting, project‑related reporting and cash management.
  • Assist in the planning and development of company marketing and communication materials.
  • Review plans for constructability and biddability.
  • Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings.
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development of new project proposals.
  • Assist in the development of RFPs or tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Promote positive relations with contractors, vendors and consultants.
Required Skills
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's motor vehicle screening.
Required Experience
  • For personnel with Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management degrees: requires two (2) years of engineering experience in relevant transportation projects.
  • For personnel without Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees: requires a high‑school diploma or equivalent and eight (8) years of CEI or roadway or bridge construction experience.
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • FL Professional Engineer (PE).
Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
