Job summary

Luster National, Inc. in Georgia is seeking a CEI Inspector II to provide construction, engineering, and inspection services for transportation projects within the state.

This intermediate role supports higher level inspectors and engineers in areas such as construction inspection, surveying, and materials testing.   • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of progressive transportation technician experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment and computing tools.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent inspections of roadways and structures to ensure contract compliance.
  • Assist higher level inspectors and engineers in plan reviews and field plan reviews.
  • Document field measurements and prepare reports on pay items.
  • Support project close-out and other duties as assigned.

Position Title: CEI Inspector II

About the Positions

Wereseeking CEI InspectorII professionalswho will provideConstruction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI)services for transportation projectslocatedin the state of Georgia. This is intermediate level technical work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers infunctional areas such as construction inspection and surveying; scheduling and status; roadway design; trafficsignalequipment;traffic signalization andgeometrics;materialssampling;inspection and testing. Work usuallyinvolves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work directionsto others.

Responsibilities
  • May perform project engineering duties in lieu of the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects.
  • Will perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structure construction processes and materials toensurecompliance with the construction contract.
  • Will perform moderately complex inspections or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.
  • Work includes inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.
  • May also perform a more complex variety of calculations and computations.
  • Will perform contract documentation duties, which include field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation.
  • Work may includeparticipatingin Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MinimumRequirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency, or an equivalent combination of training anddirectly relatedexperience.
  • Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Drafting skill and skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
  • Must be licensed tooperatemotor vehiclesin accordance withGeorgia Law.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).
Required Certifications

Please Note: For titlescontainingGDOT certifications or passing scores on Engineering Skills Development Tests, certifications and passing scores must be obtained within six (6) months of beginning work on the GDOT project. Certifications from other agencies or states maypossibly besubstituted.

  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
  • Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
  • Passing scores on GDOTs Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
Compensation Details

Expected Salary: $52k-$73k/year ($25-$35/hour). Lusterprovidesthe salary range that the company in good faith believes it might offer for this position based on the successful candidates level of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certifications, licenses, geographic location, etc. Luster reserves the right toultimately paymore or less than the posted range depending on circumstances not related to any status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
