Job summary

Avantor is seeking a CDP Developer to design, develop, and maintain customer data solutions enabling a unified view across digital and offline channels. You’ll collaborate with Marketing, IT, Analytics, and Data Engineering to integrate sources, build audience segments, and ensure data quality and governance.

You will work on identity resolution, activation workflows, and real-time/batch data ingestion, contributing to compliant data practices and scalable analytics across the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Marketing Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in customer data management, marketing technology, data engineering, or CDP development.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling; knowledge of APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration technologies.

Responsibilities

  • CDP Development & Administration: design, configure, and maintain CDP environments; build data models and identity resolution; support real-time and batch ingestion.
  • Data Integration: develop integrations between CDP and source systems; create ETL/ELT processes; implement APIs and event-streaming.
  • Data Quality & Governance: monitor data quality, validation, and privacy compliance; support metadata management.
  • Analytics & Audience Activation: define segments and activation strategies; enable delivery to marketing platforms; support measurement and dashboards.
  • Technical Support & Optimization: troubleshoot platform issues; monitor performance; collaborate with vendors on enhancements.

Job description

The Opportunity: Implements tactical and operational data engineering goals, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, ETL processes, and enterprise-wide data accessibility. Enhances data infrastructure, standards, and workflows, supporting analytics, regulatory compliance, and supply chain efficiency. Manages data engineering projects and operational processes, overseeing integration, migration, and performance improvements. Works on problems with a diverse scope, requiring evaluation of structured and unstructured data, storage methodologies, and security considerations. Develops solutions based on limited historical data, evolving technologies, and business needs. Collaborates with cross‑functional teams, including business analytics, data management, IT, and cloud architecture, to align data strategies with organizational goals. Engages external stakeholders such as vendors, cloud providers, and compliance entities to ensure seamless data operations and scalability.

The Customer Data Platform (CDP) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining customer data solutions that enable a unified customer view across digital and offline channels. This role works closely with Marketing, Analytics, IT, Data Engineering, and Business stakeholders to integrate customer data sources, build audience segmentation, support activation use cases, and ensure data quality, governance, and compliance. The ideal candidate has experience with customer data platforms, data integration technologies, identity resolution, marketing technologies, and cloud‑based data architectures.

What we’re looking for

Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Marketing Technology, or related field. Experience: 3+ years of experience in customer data management, marketing technology, data engineering, or CDP development. Experience with one or more CDP platforms such as Salesforce Data Cloud, Adobe Experience Platform, Tealium, Segment, mParticle, Treasure Data, or similar. Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling. Experience with APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration technologies. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Understanding of customer identity resolution and master data management concepts. Familiarity with data privacy and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with marketing automation platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign, Marketo, HubSpot, etc.). Experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift. Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages. Experience with customer journey orchestration and personalization tools. CDP, cloud, or data platform certifications.   • Design, configure, and maintain Customer Data Platform environments.
  • Develop and manage customer data models, schemas, and profile structures.
  • Configure identity resolution and customer profile unification processes.
  • Build and maintain audience segments, calculated insights, and activation workflows.
  • Support real‑time and batch data ingestion processes.
Data Integration
  • Develop and maintain integrations between the CDP and source systems, including: CRM platforms Marketing automation platforms Web and mobile applications ERP systems Data warehouses and data lakes Third‑party data providers
  • Create and optimize ETL/ELT processes for customer data ingestion and transformation.
  • Implement APIs, connectors, and event‑streaming solutions.
Data Quality & Governance
  • Monitor and maintain data quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Implement data validation, cleansing, and enrichment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable standards.
  • Support data governance initiatives, documentation, and metadata management.
Analytics & Audience Activation
  • Partner with marketing and analytics teams to define customer segments and activation strategies.
  • Enable audience delivery to marketing, advertising, and personalization platforms.
  • Support campaign measurement, attribution, and customer journey analysis.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting solutions related to customer data performance.
Technical Support & Optimization
  • Troubleshoot CDP platform issues and integration failures.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize data processing workflows.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal technology teams on platform enhancements.
  • Stay current with CDP capabilities, industry trends, and best practices.

Pay Transparency: The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $86,000.00 - $138,000.00 Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
