Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher to move trailers between the yard and loading/unloading doors and, when needed, assist with manual loading or sorting of packages in a safe, efficient manner.

You will coordinate trailer movements with management, document moves in the Yard Management System, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, follow safety processes, and contribute to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL Class A is required to operate in interstate commerce.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors by hooking and moving parked trailers.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management and/or central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follows safety processes and performs other duties as assigned.
