Job summary

Standard Textile seeks a skilled Yard Jockey with a CDL A license to move trailers and trucks on company property in New Jersey. Duties include safe yard operations, inspections, and coordinating with warehouse staff to optimize trailer locations and availability.

Ideal candidates will have a strong attention to detail, a safety mindset, and the ability to operate yard trucks in tight spaces. Must meet DOT and medical requirements and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL A with certs to pull 53ft trailers.
• Current DOT.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Safely move trailers and containers around the yard and loading docks, ensuring they are properly positioned for loading and unloading.
• Perform daily inspections of yard tractors and trailers to ensure they are in safe and operational condition.
• Coordinate with warehouse and dock personnel to manage trailer locations and availability.
• Secure trailers by setting the parking brakes, chocking wheels, and ensuring proper placement.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard, ensuring trailers and equipment are stored properly and safely.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or damage to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks as needed, such as checking fluid levels and ensuring equipment cleanliness.
• Follow all company safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in distribution responsibilities as assigned when yard responsibilities have been completed, including forklift operation and palletizing products.
• Contribute to team productivity goals while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
