Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Yard Driver to reposition company tractors and trailers in the yard and shuttle equipment to docks. The role includes backing trailers to doors and ensuring product temperatures for refrigerated loads.

The job requires a Class A CDL with air brakes, DOT medical certification, and a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Training hours start at 6:00 AM, with a 25.50 USD hourly rate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Six months of verifiable CMV driving experience, one year preferred.
• Must have valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License [CDL] w Air Brakes.
• Must maintain a DOT Med Cert.
• Must always meet the defined MVR standards to remain qualified to drive company commercial motor vehicle.
• Must successfully pass a background check every third year on your anniversary date.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays, as well as a short notice on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Move and operate tractors/trailers on the yard and back trailers to dock doors.
• Obtain tractor/trailer list from D&S, log odometer and hours, and communicate with lease companies.
• Ensure refrigerated trailers are at correct temperature for products like cheese and chicken.
• Provide trailers to Warehouse Team Members for loading/unloading; assist with unloading when needed.
• Reposition equipment on the yard; shuttle to and from docks and logistics suppliers.
• Follow safety policies (Chock, Cone, Dock Light) and attend safety meetings.
