Job summary

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a full-time CDL Truck Driver to transport hospital supplies and equipment between the distribution center and various sites. The ideal candidate will have a valid Delaware Class 'B' CDL and at least two years of materials distribution transportation experience.

Job description

Job Overview

ChristianaCare is looking for a full-time CDL Truck Driver to drive a box truck transporting hospital supplies and equipment between the distribution center, CCHS sites, and/or assigned locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drives in accordance with police and safety regulations.
• Loads, unloads and transports all hospital supplies and equipment between the distribution center and hospitals.
• Maintains clean and organized vehicles.
• Works rotating/flex shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays in all-weather types.
• Turns in a daily vehicle inspection report and driver log.
• Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices, and reports any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Hours: Evening 6:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. (may be required to work varied shifts based on department needs)

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• (2) years of materials distribution transportation experience.
• Experience in material handling equipment.
• Valid State of Delaware Driver’s License Class “B” (CDL) and a safe driving record.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and pull approximately 2,000 lbs.
• Position requires substantial standing, sitting, bending and stooping.
• Requires pushing and pulling of heavy material carts, totes and pallets daily in transporting them to specified locations.

• Exposure to hazardous chemicals, chemical odors and loud noises.
• Possible exposure to sharp instruments and infectious diseases.
• Adverse weather and road conditions.
